We are supposed to search the scriptures

This week I started something different in my study of scripture. I started to take the main word of the passage and look it up in Hebrew. I was blown away by how different the passage read to me after learning of the true context it was meant! Each Hebrew letter is a sign, a symbol, a sound, and a number. So I find that I am like an addict searching the text for what the Hebrew definitions are for LOVE, OBEY, GIVE is the first 3 studies I have done. These 3 words have rocked me and my walk. In Hebrew, love is connected directly with action and obedience, so think about that. The root word of Ahava is “ahav.” The term ahav in Hebrew means, “to give.”

The first scripture that came to mind was John 3:16, God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son. So here we see the translated action of love as God gave us his only son, I learned that true Ahava, true love, is more concerned about giving than receiving. When you really love someone you are always in a giving mode, I am always giving to my children, my husband, and others close to me. As I press into my walk with God I find that I am in the giving mode with complete strangers which is the vehicle of love and gets God’s attention.

The second word I studied is OBEY (Shema) which is translated mostly as HEAR in the bibles we read today. Once again did this change the way I looked at scripture and in Revelations where it says let those that have ears hear which he really is saying “ Let those who have ears OBEY (Shema) then halfway through the scrolls being opened it stopped saying that. My spirit saddened at that because that is the no turning point for anyone to make it into eternal life.
Having my dad just passing and knowing that on his deathbed he made the right choice gave me peace because he finally heard the Lord and obeyed him by believing. Never ever give up hope on your loved ones, never stop praying and speaking God’s word to them.

The third word I studied was "Worthy" in Hebrew comes from the root word: "zachah", which for Hebrew learners out there is made from the letters zayin, khaf, and heh. Within the Hebrew word there are two sides; a receiving side and an active side (giving), both in relation to God:

So my view of these 3 words has been enhanced in the way they were meant to. To see that the God of love is more concerned with giving to us that obey his words and not only are we counted worthy and we find that he is the only God worthy of our love and obedience. This is the pearl I gleaned from the Bible this week!

This morning while spending time with the Lord the Holy Spirit whispered the word COURAGE to me. That is what has been missing the last few days in my walk.
